Revved

There are days that I feel immensely purposeful. It is when the adventure I always crave begins to surface from it's home deep in my bones. Today is one of those days.

If you're twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn
and be better, I urge you to travel - as far and as
widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to.
Find out how other people live and eat and cook.
Learn from them - wherever you go.

Solitude

Thoughts from Lies Young Women Believe:

There is a richness of soul that cannot be cultivated without regular seasons of quiet and solitude. There is a depth in our relationships with God and others that cannot be experienced apart from times of unhurried, face-to-face conversation.

I don't think I really have a shortage of alone time, but it's entirely possible that I'm not spending it well. I think I might take a timeout from some of my social media habits and see what happens.

You are FAITHFUL and GOOD

The title says it all really. God is so faithful. You'd think by now it wouldn't still 'wow' me, but I never grow complacent about His greatness. Tonight I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe twice, and then came home to some short, but really solid time with God. His readiness to meet me and reveal truth to me with just the slightest effort on my part is amazing. Father, you are good.

Thankful Thursday III

Blehh. Still sick. On the way back up. Thank you God for these days of rest I've been able to take, thank you for faithfulness in showing me truth in your word, and thank you for Emergen-C.

Terrific Tuesday III

Super sick. But still doing good.
Thanks God for beautiful Texas weather and for the lightness and peace your presence gives. Oh, and thanks for secret tunnels.

So Behind!

I missed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Obviously.
So here are some reflections to make up for it.
This weekend I got to attend the wedding of two of my friends from camp. I can easily say that it was one of the best weekends I've ever had. Hands down. I don't know how you can go to a wedding and not be drawn to praise God for his love. But beyond that, I found myself praising God for these friendships I've maintained from camp, and for simple things like road trips and how beautiful Arkansas is in the fall. Those two days were so restful and restorative, I feel recharged and ready to keep plugging away at school. 2 semesters and 6 weeks to go.

Walking on Air Wednesday II

Dear God, thank you for my schedule calming down. It's a simple, but sweet, pleasure to be ahead on my work.

Terrific Tuesday

Happy Tuesday mates. Today I find myself thanking God for that delightful sore feeling you get after a workout, and for productive Mondays.

Au revoir.

Merry Monday?

This is going to be difficult, as presently I'm in quite a foul mood (so what else is new?).
Perspective.. hm. Something a good friend of mine once told me comes to mind. He's one of those people who can still be fun and happy, even when he's running on 4 hours of sleep. I asked him how he managed to do that, and he told me to laugh. Everything is funny. Even if it's not, it is.
So thank you God for humor, for laughter, for the ability to dig through and see humor in the least assuming of situations.

Splendid Sunday

Today I'm really in awe of the beautiful complexity that is our God. We can run with Him, and rest in Him. Thank you, Lord, for your greatness, your magnificence. Thank you for being more than I can comprehend.

Feelin' Good Friday & Sunny Saturday

It would appear that I never got around to a post yesterday. So:

Feelin' Good Friday
Thanks, Father, for dinner with new friends.

Sunny Saturday
Thank you also for being faithful, though I am not.

Enjoying College Initiative

A few days ago, my friend and I joked about beginning an "Enjoying College Initiative", hereon referred to as the ECI. The premise was to plan more fun activities to pepper into our busy, work-filled days. Now, however, I see the ECI going in a different direction. Anyone who knows me well would agree that I am not by nature a joyful person. I am prone to fits of melancholy and feel too infrequently that surge of excitement that bubbles up from deep within to add color to otherwise ordinary days. I've always been attracted to choosing joy, but never felt that I possessed the ability to go around doing so.
Until now.
Here is the newfangled ECI: to be grateful for the day. Each day for the next month I will spend a few moments reflecting on the things I am thankful for, and will record them here. Paul was kind of mysterious when he said "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances." So here's my stab at attaining contentment - to remember how beautiful this life God has given us really is. Because even when we get bogged down in all the things we find displeasing, there are still so many great and wonderful things. We just tend to look over them.
So without further ado, I am pleased to welcome you to Walking on Air Wednesday.

Thank you Lord for autumn air, no class til 2:00 (and only a film screening at that!), the excitement of planning a trip, and morning walks.
